The painting is related to the experiences in North Africa, where the artist went in 1927, starting from Gabés in Tunisia, and in the autumn of 1930, both times together with his friend, the painter Ernesto Quarti Marchiò. A very similar painting-just some slight differences can be found in the choice of the palette and in the details of the background-is in a private collection and it shows on the frame a label of the Bolzani Gallery in Milan, where Locatelli threw an exhibition in the 1930. For this reason, we can lead the painting to the first trip in the Mediterranean Africa and we can date it to Late-Twenties.
